Narrative:
While cruising at FL340 we encountered continuous light chop. I turned the seat belt sign on; made an announcement; and then immediately made another announcement seating the flight attendants. Approximately 1-2 mins later we experienced severe turbulence lasting approximately 5 seconds. After about another min or so of continuous light turbulence we encountered another 5 seconds or so of severe turbulence. After that the ride improved significantly; and smoothed out in about 10 mins. Several flight attendants were injured; mostly in the flight attendant crew rest facility; and 4 passenger were injured: among them; one was in the lavatory and hit her head and cut her leg; another was struck by a carryon bag that fell out of the overhead bin.
