Narrative:
We were operating as medium large transport X. After landing on runway 35R and clearing at 2NE, we were instructed to taxi north on lima to taxiway 21 and hold short of 35L, remaining on tower frequency. The tower then clrd 'company large transport Y and company medium large transport X' clear to cross to 35L and contact ground. Large transport Y acknowledged and then we acknowledged. After initializing our taxi and approximately halfway across the runway we saw the lights of another aircraft apparently on takeoff roll from 35L. We continued our taxi and saw medium large transport Z climbing over our position. Although the distance would be hard for us to determine, his rotation was approximately 4000' from our crossing. After contacting the tower by phone and having the supervisor review the tapes, it appears the controller, after clearing each flight individually to cross, then transmitted, '(company large transport Y) and (medium large transport X), hold short.' we did not hear any transmissions directed toward company medium large transport X from clear to cross until contacting ground once across. Had the second call by the tower been directed to company large transport Y and company medium large transport X we could have avoided the incursion, but we were not in position to listen for the call signs being transmitted together rapidly. Supplemental information from acn 81473: I called back later and found that both company large transport Y and medium large transport X had been clrd to cross runway 35L at just about the same time that an airplane had been clrd for takeoff.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: CTLR INSTRUCTED 2 ACFT TO CROSS THE RWY WHILE ANOTHER WAS STARTING TKOF ROLL. CANCELLATION OF CROSSING WAS NOT HEARD RESULTING IN LESS THAN STANDARD SEPARATION WITH DEP ACFT.
Narrative: WE WERE OPERATING AS MLG X. AFTER LNDG ON RWY 35R AND CLEARING AT 2NE, WE WERE INSTRUCTED TO TAXI N ON LIMA TO TXWY 21 AND HOLD SHORT OF 35L, REMAINING ON TWR FREQ. THE TWR THEN CLRD 'COMPANY LGT Y AND COMPANY MLG X' CLR TO CROSS TO 35L AND CONTACT GND. LGT Y ACKNOWLEDGED AND THEN WE ACKNOWLEDGED. AFTER INITIALIZING OUR TAXI AND APPROX HALFWAY ACROSS THE RWY WE SAW THE LIGHTS OF ANOTHER ACFT APPARENTLY ON TKOF ROLL FROM 35L. WE CONTINUED OUR TAXI AND SAW MLG Z CLBING OVER OUR POS. ALTHOUGH THE DISTANCE WOULD BE HARD FOR US TO DETERMINE, HIS ROTATION WAS APPROX 4000' FROM OUR XING. AFTER CONTACTING THE TWR BY PHONE AND HAVING THE SUPVR REVIEW THE TAPES, IT APPEARS THE CTLR, AFTER CLEARING EACH FLT INDIVIDUALLY TO CROSS, THEN TRANSMITTED, '(COMPANY LGT Y) AND (MLG X), HOLD SHORT.' WE DID NOT HEAR ANY TRANSMISSIONS DIRECTED TOWARD COMPANY MLG X FROM CLR TO CROSS UNTIL CONTACTING GND ONCE ACROSS. HAD THE SECOND CALL BY THE TWR BEEN DIRECTED TO COMPANY LGT Y AND COMPANY MLG X WE COULD HAVE AVOIDED THE INCURSION, BUT WE WERE NOT IN POS TO LISTEN FOR THE CALL SIGNS BEING TRANSMITTED TOGETHER RAPIDLY. SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION FROM ACN 81473: I CALLED BACK LATER AND FOUND THAT BOTH COMPANY LGT Y AND MLG X HAD BEEN CLRD TO CROSS RWY 35L AT JUST ABOUT THE SAME TIME THAT AN AIRPLANE HAD BEEN CLRD FOR TKOF.
