Narrative:

We landed in bis on runway 13 as the tower was closing for the night. We exited the runway with a right turn onto taxiway D; followed by a right turn onto taxiway C. We were both unfamiliar with the airport and had the airport diagram in front of us. The diagram appeared to show that I could make a left turn onto C4; then a right turn at either of two places onto the ramp. My intent was to take the first right turn off C4 onto the terminal ramp. However; after making the left turn onto C4 we realized that the txwys from C4 to the ramp were only vehicle service roads. C4 was not wide enough to make a u-turn; so we called operations and requested a tug to push us back onto taxiway C. Once this was accomplished; we taxied to the gate. First; my air carrier's airport directory was less than helpful in our preflight planning. The airport directory says that the terminal is located on the east side of the airport when in fact it is on the west side. Second; both 'txwys' depicted on the airport diagram connecting C4 to the terminal ramp are not aircraft txwys. The first officer had only been to bis once before; and I had never been. Given our unfamiliarity and the nighttime blowing snow cover; we did not realize our mistake until we had already turned down the wrong taxiway. Update the airport directory with accurate information! Also; adding a note to the airport diagram page to indicate which pavement is service road and not for commercial aircraft.

Title: AT BIS A MEDIUM LARGE TRANSPORT JET PLT TAXIED ONTO NARROW TXWY ABEAM C4 BECAUSE THE COMMERCIAL ARPT CHART INDICATED A TXWY WITH DIMENSIONS SIMILAR TO C.

Narrative: WE LANDED IN BIS ON RWY 13 AS THE TOWER WAS CLOSING FOR THE NIGHT. WE EXITED THE RWY WITH A RIGHT TURN ONTO TXWY D; FOLLOWED BY A RIGHT TURN ONTO TXWY C. WE WERE BOTH UNFAMILIAR WITH THE ARPT AND HAD THE ARPT DIAGRAM IN FRONT OF US. C4 WAS NOT WIDE ENOUGH TO MAKE A U-TURN; SO WE CALLED OPERATIONS AND REQUESTED A TUG TO PUSH US BACK ONTO TXWY C. ONCE THIS WAS ACCOMPLISHED; WE TAXIED TO THE GATE. FIRST; MY ACR'S ARPT DIRECTORY WAS LESS THAN HELPFUL IN OUR PREFLIGHT PLANNING. THE ARPT DIRECTORY SAYS THAT THE TERMINAL IS LOCATED ON THE EAST SIDE OF THE ARPT WHEN IN FACT IT IS ON THE WEST SIDE. SECOND; BOTH 'TXWYS' DEPICTED ON THE ARPT DIAGRAM CONNECTING C4 TO THE TERMINAL RAMP ARE NOT ACFT TXWYS. THE FO HAD ONLY BEEN TO BIS ONCE BEFORE; AND I HAD NEVER BEEN. GIVEN OUR UNFAMILIARITY AND THE NIGHTTIME BLOWING SNOW COVER; WE DID NOT REALIZE OUR MISTAKE UNTIL WE HAD ALREADY TURNED DOWN THE WRONG TXWY. UPDATE THE ARPT DIRECTORY WITH ACCURATE INFORMATION! ALSO; ADDING A NOTE TO THE ARPT DIAGRAM PAGE TO INDICATE WHICH PAVEMENT IS SERVICE ROAD AND NOT FOR COMMERCIAL ACFT.
