Narrative:
After landing on runway 13R at dfw we were told to hold short of runway 18L at taxiway a. There were 2 heavy aircraft holding short of runway 18R at taxiway a already so tower told us to hold short of runway 18L at taxiway B. I read back the hold short clearance and the captain acknowledged. I then continued to clean up the aircraft finish the 'after landing checklist' and was about to call our ramp when the captain slammed down on the brakes. I looked up from the checklist to discover we were in the middle of runway 18R. We continued across runway 18R to hold short of runway 18L. The aircraft landing on runway 18R was at about a 2 mi final. The captain explained he saw the aircraft at 2 mi but was watching the aircraft holding short of the other runway (18L) at taxiway a and was proceeding up to hold short next to them on taxiway B when he realized where he was and remembered he was to hold short of the other runway 18R. The captain was busy looking at the other aircraft and where they were holding short more than where we were on the airfield and I should have backed him up better but was busy with checklists and calling ramp.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A COMMERCIAL FIXED WING MLG ACFT AFTER RECEIVING TXWY INSTRUCTIONS TO HOLD SHORT ON THE TXWY CROSSED AN ACTIVE RWY DUE TO INATTN.
Narrative: AFTER LNDG ON RWY 13R AT DFW WE WERE TOLD TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 18L AT TXWY A. THERE WERE 2 HVY ACFT HOLDING SHORT OF RWY 18R AT TXWY A ALREADY SO TWR TOLD US TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 18L AT TXWY B. I READ BACK THE HOLD SHORT CLRNC AND THE CAPT ACKNOWLEDGED. I THEN CONTINUED TO CLEAN UP THE ACFT FINISH THE 'AFTER LNDG CHKLIST' AND WAS ABOUT TO CALL OUR RAMP WHEN THE CAPT SLAMMED DOWN ON THE BRAKES. I LOOKED UP FROM THE CHKLIST TO DISCOVER WE WERE IN THE MIDDLE OF RWY 18R. WE CONTINUED ACROSS RWY 18R TO HOLD SHORT OF RWY 18L. THE ACFT LNDG ON RWY 18R WAS AT ABOUT A 2 MI FINAL. THE CAPT EXPLAINED HE SAW THE ACFT AT 2 MI BUT WAS WATCHING THE ACFT HOLDING SHORT OF THE OTHER RWY (18L) AT TXWY A AND WAS PROCEEDING UP TO HOLD SHORT NEXT TO THEM ON TXWY B WHEN HE REALIZED WHERE HE WAS AND REMEMBERED HE WAS TO HOLD SHORT OF THE OTHER RWY 18R. THE CAPT WAS BUSY LOOKING AT THE OTHER ACFT AND WHERE THEY WERE HOLDING SHORT MORE THAN WHERE WE WERE ON THE AIRFIELD AND I SHOULD HAVE BACKED HIM UP BETTER BUT WAS BUSY WITH CHKLISTS AND CALLING RAMP.
