Narrative:

Upon receiving taxi instructions from the okc tower controller, I taxied out to the active runway. En route to the active runway from the GA ramp, I should have turned left to intersect the proper taxiway. I proceeded forward looking for signs to direct me towards the taxiway. Upon looking while taxiing the aircraft entered an active runway. I was instructed to exit the runway. I made a 180 degree turn to exit and proceeded to look for the proper taxiway. I believe the lighting and airport layout contributed to this occurrence. I was taxiing with an airport diagram for this airport. Another pilot was riding along and also did not see the active runway as well. Taking a slower approach to taxiing at this airport in addition to asking for step-by-step directions could have helped.

Title: A COMMERCIAL RATED PLT FLYING FREIGHT IN A BE36 AT OKC FAILS TO FOLLOW ATC TAXI INSTRUCTIONS RESULTING IN A RWY INCURSION.

Narrative: UPON RECEIVING TAXI INSTRUCTIONS FROM THE OKC TWR CTLR, I TAXIED OUT TO THE ACTIVE RWY. ENRTE TO THE ACTIVE RWY FROM THE GA RAMP, I SHOULD HAVE TURNED L TO INTERSECT THE PROPER TXWY. I PROCEEDED FORWARD LOOKING FOR SIGNS TO DIRECT ME TOWARDS THE TXWY. UPON LOOKING WHILE TAXIING THE ACFT ENTERED AN ACTIVE RWY. I WAS INSTRUCTED TO EXIT THE RWY. I MADE A 180 DEG TURN TO EXIT AND PROCEEDED TO LOOK FOR THE PROPER TXWY. I BELIEVE THE LIGHTING AND ARPT LAYOUT CONTRIBUTED TO THIS OCCURRENCE. I WAS TAXIING WITH AN ARPT DIAGRAM FOR THIS ARPT. ANOTHER PLT WAS RIDING ALONG AND ALSO DID NOT SEE THE ACTIVE RWY AS WELL. TAKING A SLOWER APCH TO TAXIING AT THIS ARPT IN ADDITION TO ASKING FOR STEP-BY-STEP DIRECTIONS COULD HAVE HELPED.
