Narrative:

In an effort to assist maintenance trouble shoot a problem on a flight already late, aircraft was started (#1 engine/left side) with fuel truck in fueling position, possibly connected. Start was initiated after being cleared to turn/start by mechanics. Fueling position is at least 10' from aircraft on #2/right side. Mechanics requested #2, right engine started. Fuel truck was notified disconnected (but operator was nowhere to be found) by mechanics. No. 2 engine/right was started with fuel truck at least 10' from aircraft. No incidents occurred but the potential was there for a possible hazard.

Title: ACR MDT ENGINE START WITH FUEL TRUCK REPORTED TOO CLOSE TO ACFT AND VEHICLE DRIVER NOT AROUND.

NO INCIDENTS OCCURRED BUT THE POTENTIAL WAS THERE FOR A POSSIBLE HAZARD.
