Narrative:
Aircraft was at gate. I went to install a ground power unit (gpu) and it short circuited. There were no labels or any indication not to install the gpu. There was no indication not to use the gpu. There was a white tape but it did not have any information as to not to install any power on the aircraft. The only other person in the vicinity was a ramp employee that was unloading baggage from the cargo bin.
