Narrative:
After conducting a catiii B approach to runway 36R at mem; ATC cleared us to exit the runway to the left and cross runway 36C on kilo. On kilo; short of runway 36C; we approached a red stop bar. We would not cross runway 36C and questioned the controller. He said we needed to cross runway 36C on taxiway kilo and was aware of the red stop bar. We again explained that we would have to cross a red stop bar. He again cleared us across the red stop bar and issued a clearance to cross runway 36C. We read back that clearance. Controllers should be aware that a clearance to cross a red stop bar goes against our operation.
