Narrative:
Operational error during radar training. Mode C swap took place approximately 15 seconds before conflict alert was activated. Radar trainer took control and issued vectors. Separation was lost. Air carrier Y was given descent from FL310 to FL240 landing ind. Air carrier X was cruising at FL300 enroute to tul. Mode C swap took place after clearance to air carrier Y but before conflict alert between air carrier X and air carrier Y. There were many aircraft over pxv with data block overlap.
