Narrative:
I was in the aft galley when the mid cabin lavatory chimes went off continuously. I ran to first class to obtain the halon. I went in the lavatory and dumped the contents of the garbage can on the floor. I started looking in all compartments as I smelled toxic fumes. I felt the water heater and determined it was extremely hot. I turned off the switch to the smoke detector. We told the captain of the situation and locked off the lavatory. We landed safely.
Original NASA ASRS Text
