Narrative:
I landed on runway 13L at jfk. I made a left turn onto the first available turnoff; taxiway za. As I made the turn; cones across the runway hold short line on za came into view. I stopped the aircraft; jfk tower was immediately notified of our situation; and that there was not enough room to maneuver the aircraft out. Jfk tower re-routed landing traffic to runway 13R without any incident. Tower advised us to contact jfk ground; upon doing so; I suggested to ground that if the cones on the za hold short line; and cones across C taxiway (placed on the west side of za taxiway) were removed; the rest of taxiway C was open and the left turn could be made and aircraft taxied over to hangar X. Ground advised us that port authority vehicles were on their way. Operations was contacted and was advised of the situation. Port authority vehicles arrived; we were informed that the za/C intersection was unusable due to cracks on the taxiway; and that a tug would be required to move the aircraft. Operations was once again contacted; and a tug was requested. The engines were shut down; the tug arrived; and the aircraft was towed to hangar X. I contacted the dispatcher concerning an MEL on the flight paperwork; I took the opportunity to ask about weather and/or any notams pertinent to the flight. Her response with regards to the notams was that there were none that would impact us. Upon looking over the notams given to us with the paperwork; taxiway za or C did not show as being closed. Jfk ATIS; also did not say anything about these specific taxiway closures. Additionally; would there have been better lighting; I may have seen the cones sooner and not have made the turn onto za. In my opinion; this event occurred due to lack of information; and low lighting conditions in the area of the event. Better dissemination of information; and better lighting.supplemental info from acn 831433: when I left work that night; the flight was on it's way to jfk. Upon return the next day; I was informed that a NOTAM was not on the flight plan paperwork; thusly due to this on landing the crew ended up in an area of the airport that was closed to traffic. In the end; they had to be towed out of the area. This information was not given to the crew via ATIS or ATC; which further escalated the situation. The company has set up a filtering system for the notams because the pilots were complaining that it was way too much for them to read. For whatever reason this NOTAM was thought to be inconsequential; therefore removed. My solution for this not to happen again is to replace all notams and allow the pilots to filter it themselves or replace those that pertain to closures; etc.
