Narrative:
This is how the tsa wants it and it stands in direct contradiction to longstanding aviation safety protocols that require a briefing for intended actions as well as unintended actions. First officer is an ffdo. From the start of our trip sequence there was no cockpit briefing as to what I might expect (non-ffdo) should he be required to act in his capacity as an ffdo. So; as the captain; I had no idea what he was going to do; when he was going to do it; or when he might be finished doing it. As the captain; I am entrusted with the safety of hundreds of passengers every day. Yet; I cannot be trusted with the knowledge of ffdo SOP's. Smart...very smart.
