Narrative:
Oxygen mask above forward flight attendant jumpseat fell out of passenger service unit after landing. Mechanic discovered that the wrong pin was installed in the chemical O2 generator which would have prevented O2 flow to the mask during in-flight deployment. The mechanic explained that the transportation safety pin was installed instead of the required initiation pin. Was this an isolated mistake or is it indicative of a system failure; perhaps in depot maintenance?
