Narrative:
During walk around inspection; I noticed what appeared to be a twisted or deformed gasket sticking out from under a hydraulic access cover. After entering the discrepancy into ACARS; a person wearing a supervisor's vest entered the cockpit and said a mechanic had not yet been called; but demanded that I show him the discrepancy. I went down onto the ramp with him and discovered that the gasket had been removed. I asked the supervisor who had done that and he walked away without answering me. Obviously someone on the ramp; who was not licensed or certified; had performed illegal maintenance.
