Narrative:

Lack of room for carry on bags and customer service reluctant to gate check to avoid a delay so bags were stowed in first class closet resulting in possibly exceeding the weight limit. Following this a party of six boarded at the last minute with luggage and as soon as they were on board customer service began to close the door the passengers were not yet in their seats nor had their hand luggage been stowed. Customer service had not checked with myself nor anyone else if we were ready to close!!! I had to put myself in a position to block them from closing the door failing to consider my own safety at the time. Even after all of this we still blocked out 3 minutes ahead of schedule. The need for on time departure appears to continually show disregard for fars.
