Narrative:
Flight was cleared by sfo clearance for porte 7 fellows as filed. Upon intercepting the 135 degree right of pye, oak center asked us where we were going and turned us to intercept the pye 151 degree right and cleared us via the offshore route to bur. Talking to ATC via phone after the flight, the area supervisor told me that we should have been given an offshore route by ATC. The strip read via the offshore route. Supplemental information from acn 83847: there are 2 routings to bur from sfo (hence the possible confusion) and we do fly the offshore sometimes. However, we know we received the inland route from sfo clearance delivery. We feel they gave the clearance to us in error and that ZOA center had the correct clearance all along.
