Narrative:
An FAA approved check airman was assigned to conduct upgrade training and checking to an airman; but was two weeks beyond his FAA observation. 135.339 (a)(2) the office called and stated that he thought that one of our check airman may have given training and a checkride while not current. I told him that I thought the check airman was current and thought he had an observed ride in april last year. Preliminary information indicates there is a lack of a system audit. Once it was verified that the check airman was not current; I immediately called and spoke to the station manager; and instructed him to remove the pilot from the line.
