Narrative:
Photo mission north side of border. As the border winds through foothills I was north of the border when the G1000 warning sounded. I was in VMC and had a clear view of the mountains ahead and the valley we were following. The warning sounded so loudly; I was momentarily distracted. The tower was trying to contact me but I was unable to hear them over the warning; which I could not mute. At the same time the map screen went to terrain and made it difficult to see the border depicted on the screen. I concentrated on flying the aircraft down the center of the valley and climbing until the warning stopped. The border snakes along the valley floor. I briefly may have drifted over the international border. I turned north on continued on the flight. The terrain warning is not adjustable or mute-able. In a remote area it is not uncommon to be in a small plane in a valley with higher mountains around. This is not an emergency and the volume of the alert was so loud that is was difficult to perform secondary functions.

Title: Pilot on a photo shoot in mountainous terrain is distracted by terrain warning from G1000. The warning is extremely loud and not mutable and the map display goes to terrain making navigation difficult. An international border may have been crossed.
