Narrative:
I was in a hurry at the end of my shift. Part; air data computer (air data computer); did not show up until an hour before then. We had little time to install part; operational check and get the aircraft out of hangar. I forgot to check practices and procedures manual (ppm) for required (autoland) category affected parts. Another mechanic (avionics) was checking history for another item he was working; and noticed the category was not done after air data computer replacement. He immediately contacted maintenance control to report it and they stopped the aircraft and downgraded category.I was in too much of a rush to get the aircraft serviceable before the end of my shift. So I forgot to check the ppm.maintenance control notified captain on the B737-300 and instructed him to downgrade (the aircraft) category. I cannot rush in a situation like this; especially when completing paper work. I could have let the next shift finished the work and still would not have taken a delay.
