Narrative:
We were practicing emergency maneuvers. Upon one of the approachs a red building was observed out of my left window. We proceeded to turn to the right to avoid the building. Once clear we were disoriented and observed a highway. We turned to the highway and descended over the road to try to see a sign. At no time did we come within 500 ft of any person or property. We stayed within minimum altitudes stated in the FARS. Several residents notified the local auths of a low flying aircraft. Upon landing at limon a sheriff's deputy questioned us about our actions. My passenger and I then explained our lost procedures and low level activity.

Title: C172 PLT PRACTICES EMER PROCS NEAR BUILDINGS AND BECOMES DISORIENTED. USES A HWY TO ATTEMPT TO REORIENT HIMSELF. ALT AGL INDICATED AS 100 FT BUT CLAIMS NEVER BELOW 500 FT AGL. ON RETURN TO ARPT HE IS MET BY LCL SHERIFF DEPUTY.
Narrative: WE WERE PRACTICING EMER MANEUVERS. UPON ONE OF THE APCHS A RED BUILDING WAS OBSERVED OUT OF MY L WINDOW. WE PROCEEDED TO TURN TO THE R TO AVOID THE BUILDING. ONCE CLR WE WERE DISORIENTED AND OBSERVED A HWY. WE TURNED TO THE HWY AND DSNDED OVER THE ROAD TO TRY TO SEE A SIGN. AT NO TIME DID WE COME WITHIN 500 FT OF ANY PERSON OR PROPERTY. WE STAYED WITHIN MINIMUM ALTS STATED IN THE FARS. SEVERAL RESIDENTS NOTIFIED THE LCL AUTHS OF A LOW FLYING ACFT. UPON LNDG AT LIMON A SHERIFF'S DEPUTY QUESTIONED US ABOUT OUR ACTIONS. MY PAX AND I THEN EXPLAINED OUR LOST PROCS AND LOW LEVEL ACTIVITY.
