Narrative:
Captain lowered landing gear handle and gear doors appeared to open; but the gear never fell down. Got three red unsafe lights. No ECAM yet. After a few seconds; recycled gear handle and got gear down and locked. Landing checklist and landing accomplished uneventful. Wrote up problem and debriefed with maintenance and outgoing pilots.

Title: The landing gear of an A320 did not extend on the first attempt after lowering the landing gear handle. A second attempt lowered the landing gear normally. There were no ECAM alerts.
