Narrative:

While en route to lax, I tuned in the las ATIS frequency by misreading my frequency page. Las ATIS only idented itself as 'international arrival information.' I assumed I had lax and filled out the landing data using the wrong WX information. Even though the captain quickly recognized my error, the potential for problems is certainly present when an incomplete airport identifier is used. Later in the trip, another airport only idented itself as 'international,' (st louis, I believe) so the situation is more common than one might suspect. I believe all airports should be reminded to use their complete identify, even on ATIS, to preclude this situation in the future.

Title: ACR SO SELECTED WRONG ATIS FREQ AND COMPLETED LNDG DATA CARD USING LAS INFORMATION WHEN ACFT WAS LNDG AT LAX. REPORTER STATES LAS WAS NOT USING ARPT IDENTIFICATION, BUT JUST SAID 'INTERNATIONAL ARR INFORMATION.'

Narrative: WHILE ENRTE TO LAX, I TUNED IN THE LAS ATIS FREQ BY MISREADING MY FREQ PAGE. LAS ATIS ONLY IDENTED ITSELF AS 'INTL ARR INFO.' I ASSUMED I HAD LAX AND FILLED OUT THE LNDG DATA USING THE WRONG WX INFO. EVEN THOUGH THE CAPT QUICKLY RECOGNIZED MY ERROR, THE POTENTIAL FOR PROBS IS CERTAINLY PRESENT WHEN AN INCOMPLETE ARPT IDENTIFIER IS USED. LATER IN THE TRIP, ANOTHER ARPT ONLY IDENTED ITSELF AS 'INTL,' (ST LOUIS, I BELIEVE) SO THE SITUATION IS MORE COMMON THAN ONE MIGHT SUSPECT. I BELIEVE ALL ARPTS SHOULD BE REMINDED TO USE THEIR COMPLETE IDENT, EVEN ON ATIS, TO PRECLUDE THIS SITUATION IN THE FUTURE.
