Out of our departure airport; tail compartment temp hi light came on. Declared emergency and started QRH procedures at the same time. Light quickly extinguished. Continued as per QRH.

Title: A MD80's TAIL COMPARTMENT TEMP HI light annunciated during climbout after departure. The QRH checklist was completed; the light extinguished and the flight continued uneventfully to its destination.
