Narrative:
Wake turbulence encounter: climbing through FL180 15NM west of lin VOR we encountered moderate turbulence with a 20 degree uncommanded roll to the right. First officer corrected and leveled off as we were sure it was wake turbulence. ATC reported; when asked; that we were following a B757. TCAS showed the traffic at 16 miles in front and +4300 ft above and climbing. Winds on the nd showed off the nose 060/15. No injuries and we asked to climb offset 1 mile right until cruise. No further wake turbulence was encountered.
