Narrative:
Two log gripes: nose gear take-off light inoperative and right-hand landing light inoperative. Morning departure. I found the MEL for take-off light and landing light and did not notice on the landing light deferral special notes that; with one landing light inoperative; the nose takeoff light must also operate normally. At the time I did not realize that one deferral would prohibit the other.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A contract Mechanic and a Pilot report they were informed that a deferral of the nose gear take-off light and right-hand landing light on an A320 was not legal. The Special Notes section of the MEL was missed that requires both the taxi and take-off position of the taxi light must be operative; if the landing light is inoperative.
