Narrative:
I sent out the release with the destination alternate missing because while planning the fuel for the flight I did not re-enter the alternate. However; because I specified the fuel load there was adequate fuel on board when release was amended to add alternate. The flight crew also failed to notice the need for a destination alternate prior to departure. The dispatcher coming on noticed the missing alternate while planning the fuel for the flight. I did not re-enter the alternate because I specified the fuel load there was adequate fuel on board when release was amended. I contacted crew and amended release to add an alternate. I will use the pre-plan tool on worksheet so that when I am planning fuel loads the alternate will not disappear when I rerun the numbers for added fuel.
