Narrative:

Talking to ATC level FL230 got EICAS message 'right wing slide;' but no emergency doors light. I flew the aircraft on autopilot and handled ATC. The captain and relief pilot followed flight manual procedure and called dispatch who called maintenance and concluded best course to return to land. Considered dumping fuel versus overweight landing; etc. On contact with approach control; we needed priority handing and fire department due to possible hot brakes/fire; declared emergency. After landing had the fire department inspected aircraft once we were clear of the runway. Returned to gate.
