Narrative:
We departed with pack 2 deferred inop. At FL310 got pack 1 fault due to overheat. We put on oxygen mask; established communication; declared emergency; requested 10;000ft and began high dive. During dive we referenced qrc and at FL180 pack temp went back to normal. We reset pack and continued to destination at 10000ft. We notified flight attendants; dispatch; and maintenance. Cabin altitude peaked at 7200ft.
