Narrative:
The takeoff and flight were conducted within normal operating parameters. Immediately following touchdown; inside the touchdown zone on runway 16; the aircraft hydroplaned on the wet pavement and veered to the left. Appropriate corrective action was taken and reverse thrust was applied; along with medium braking. Once the aircraft was returned to centerline; maximum braking was applied. When the aircraft came to a full stop; it was inside the overrun area. ATC; flight attendants; passengers; operations; and the company were all notified. There was not sufficient room to maneuver the aircraft. A tug was called and the aircraft was towed to the gate without incident. Excess water on the runway; braking action poor.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: An Air Carrier Crew reported that a Tower Controller reportered braking action as Good prior to landing. After landing the aircraft hydroplaned on wet pavement. After regaining aircraft control the aircraft was stopped in the runway overrun.
