Narrative:
Agents at our departure airport failed to notify me as the #1 flight attendant of the presence of fam's onboard. We had a delayed boarding so there was plenty of time to notify me. I only found out after boarding began and the fam's came into the first class galley area to notify me of their presence. The captain was notified when he arrived at the gate after boarding had already begun. If the agents had time to notify the captain; then why didn't they notify me. I had already been onboard over an hour. This is not acceptable. If something would have happened in-flight; then I could have inadvertently attacked them; believing that they were going to attack me.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A Flight Attendant reported that the flight had boarded when a Federal Air Marshall identified himself. The gate Agent had not identified the Marshalls.
