Narrative:

Clearance runway 7L with the denut 4 hotel departure SID. After I called for gear up the cockpit door slammed open. The relief pilot immediately turned and closed it; it again slammed open. The relief pilot turned to close it again and his manual hit the floor from his lap. With the noise distraction and IMC condition I engaged the left autopilot at 1200 ft. I looked down as the FMC and the departure had dropped out. At 1800 ft with the distraction and the loss of the FMC departure display I asked the first officer was it right or left turn to denut. He said right. I started to turn to the right and the first officer said no left. I recalled my briefing and started back to the left. We were only in the right turn for seconds. ATC departure was contacted and he confirmed our departure clearance. I asked if there were any traffic conflicts and he stated none. We were the only aircraft out there. We continued with the departure without any other issue with the FMC.
