Narrative:
Air carrier X climbing east out of stl. Corp Y climbing west out of sdf. Thunderstorms in area and aircraft deviating. Assigned headings to avoid one another, but was not sufficient to maintain sep. Attempted to turn air carrier X. Aircraft X could not accept turn. Assigned X present heading, it appeared I would have sufficient sep. Both aircraft turned out, but was too late.
