Narrative:
I was working bkw hi r-side. I accepted the hand off with the routing sardy..hvq..hnn..tvt.V523.dalts..kcak. When the pilot checked on the frequency; he said that he was direct to the airport. I asked him to verify direct cak; and he responded affirmative. I called the psk hi sector in ZTL; and asked the controller if he gave the aircraft direct cak. He said yes. I said I was still showing the full route in the computer. He then said he put it in and received an accept response. Either there was an interface problem with ZTL; or the ZTL controller was mistaken. Recommendation; I don't know how to fix this other than making sure controllers are sure a change to the flight plan is accepted into the host; and continue to make sure the interfaces are up.
