Narrative:

I filed a dc sfra flt plan before takeoff but when I asked for a briefer; the computer voice; asked for my state; I said washington dc. The computer transferred me to washington state. The briefer entered a DVFR flt plan and he also called the potomac area to verify the flight plan was entered correctly. He called me before takeoff to give me a transponder code. As I took of from ZZZ; which is north of the dca airspace; and I contacted potomac there was some confusion and I was given a different transponder code. Potomac also directed me to remain clear of the class B; I informed him I was at 12;500 which is above the class B of 10;000. The controller was very upset with me since my flight took me over the class B. My flight path was clear of the dca frz flight zone but the controller did not appear happy with me flying over the class B airspace at 12;500.
