Level at 10;000 feet and 300kts on a vector for a visual to runway 11L at tus. Flew over a mountain an received a 'terrain; terrain' warning. Initiated a climb and it quickly went away. Gained no more than 300 feet and returned to 10;000 right away. Radar altimeter got no lower than 1600 feet. Notified ATC and their response was that it had never happened there before.
