Narrative:
While cruising at 7000 ft about midway through the kaiwi channel; we were cleared direct lanai on an IFR flight plan. All of a sudden we heard a loud squeaking noise through our headsets; and saw that the audio panel lights were blinking. We could not communicate to ATC through our radios or to each other; and we had multiple failures on the pfd. The noise was very distracting and unbearable. I turned off the master and waited several seconds then turned it back on so I could squawk 7600. All malfunctions were still present. After squawking 7600 one of our occupants smelt an electrical odor. After hearing that I then smelt the same as well as the 3rd occupant. I then followed the appropriate checklist from the aircraft flight manual. We diverted and landed with no other occurrence.
