Narrative:
On ILS; using #2 navigation and hand flying because #1; which was coupled; was malfunctioning. Dropped below glide path in order to stay visual while I tried to troubleshoot #1. Low altitude warning called out by tower. Should have either stayed on the glide path and let the radio shop trouble shoot when I got down or advise the tower what I was doing.
