Narrative:
First officer making landing on 27L at ord. On landing rollout, tower advised to make high speed turnoff just prior to runway 32L. First officer did not have aircraft sufficiently slowed for this turnoff. I took control of aircraft and, knowing that an aircraft was on short final behind us, I exited with a right turn onto runway 32L which was being used for takeoffs from the T-1 intersection. No aircraft was using 32L full length. Although it is not proper to turn onto another runway without clearance, it seemed to be the appropriate course of action under the circumstances ord tower made no complaint about this action.

Title: LNDG ACFT DID NOT EXIT RWY ON THE TXWY SPECIFIED BY TWR CTLR.
Narrative: F/O MAKING LNDG ON 27L AT ORD. ON LNDG ROLLOUT, TWR ADVISED TO MAKE HIGH SPEED TURNOFF JUST PRIOR TO RWY 32L. F/O DID NOT HAVE ACFT SUFFICIENTLY SLOWED FOR THIS TURNOFF. I TOOK CONTROL OF ACFT AND, KNOWING THAT AN ACFT WAS ON SHORT FINAL BEHIND US, I EXITED WITH A RIGHT TURN ONTO RWY 32L WHICH WAS BEING USED FOR TKOFS FROM THE T-1 INTXN. NO ACFT WAS USING 32L FULL LENGTH. ALTHOUGH IT IS NOT PROPER TO TURN ONTO ANOTHER RWY WITHOUT CLRNC, IT SEEMED TO BE THE APPROPRIATE COURSE OF ACTION UNDER THE CIRCUMSTANCES ORD TWR MADE NO COMPLAINT ABOUT THIS ACTION.
