Narrative:

We were cleared for a visual bridge to runway 28R about 20 mi east of sfo. Approaching the bridge we noticed we were about to fly up an medium large transport Y's tailpipes. We slowed and were able to follow the medium large transport Y to a landing on runway 28R. We were never issued that traffic or told to follow him. Callback conversation with reporter revealed the following: reporter verified what he meant by flying up the medium large transport's tailpipe. Closest proximity was approximately 2 1/2 mi and large transport had not yet been changed to tower frequency. Reporter very congenial and admits that he is campaigning the charted visual approachs to sfo. Reporter very congenial and admits that he is campaigning the charted visual approachs to sfo. Reporter would like either 1/2 mi or 1 mi stagger vs the side by side procedure. Reporter says trying to see traffic when it is given, with houses as background make the turn on from the east very difficult. Analyst suggested the reporter refer the subject to the FAA hotline and telephone numbers were given.

WE SLOWED AND WERE ABLE TO FOLLOW THE MLG Y TO A LNDG ON RWY 28R. WE WERE NEVER ISSUED THAT TFC OR TOLD TO FOLLOW HIM. CALLBACK CONVERSATION WITH REPORTER REVEALED THE FOLLOWING: REPORTER VERIFIED WHAT HE MEANT BY FLYING UP THE MLG'S TAILPIPE. RPTR VERY CONGENIAL AND ADMITS THAT HE IS CAMPAIGNING THE CHARTED VISUAL APCHS TO SFO. RPTR WOULD LIKE EITHER 1/2 MI OR 1 MI STAGGER VS THE SIDE BY SIDE PROC. RPTR SAYS TRYING TO SEE TFC WHEN IT IS GIVEN, WITH HOUSES AS BACKGROUND MAKE THE TURN ON FROM THE E VERY DIFFICULT. ANALYST SUGGESTED THE RPTR REFER THE SUBJECT TO THE FAA HOTLINE AND TELEPHONE NUMBERS WERE GIVEN.
