Narrative:
Sdl to lax, VFR, filed flight plan. Made reservations for arrival and departure using automated system. After being dumped to '1200' by psp approach (I had been using VFR flight following since sdl) I contacted ont approach for advisories. Asked upon initial callup for assistance in coordination with lax approach. After crossing ont airspace, ont approach dumped me to '1200' and gave me lax approach frequency to call. This 5 NM from the edge (top 12500', floor 4000') of the TCA, me going 180 KTS (that's 3 mi per minute) and at 6000' descending. I called lax, circled (did I bust the TCA here??) how much traffic did I miss while flying, circling, descending, navigating, and responding to squawk requests from lax. Upon radar contact I was given an altitude assignment (maintain aoa 4000') and a heading (240 degree) that immediately put me into the TCA. He (approach) did not say the magic words 'cleared into the TCA...' (did I violate the TCA here?) I had to ask for the blessing. During the flight that day (tvl-sdl-lax-mev-tvl) I made a list of 10 instances where a VFR pilot working in the system is so much bait waiting to get hit!

Narrative: SDL TO LAX, VFR, FILED FLT PLAN. MADE RESERVATIONS FOR ARR AND DEP USING AUTOMATED SYS. AFTER BEING DUMPED TO '1200' BY PSP APCH (I HAD BEEN USING VFR FLT FOLLOWING SINCE SDL) I CONTACTED ONT APCH FOR ADVISORIES. ASKED UPON INITIAL CALLUP FOR ASSISTANCE IN COORD WITH LAX APCH. AFTER XING ONT AIRSPACE, ONT APCH DUMPED ME TO '1200' AND GAVE ME LAX APCH FREQ TO CALL. THIS 5 NM FROM THE EDGE (TOP 12500', FLOOR 4000') OF THE TCA, ME GOING 180 KTS (THAT'S 3 MI PER MINUTE) AND AT 6000' DSNDING. I CALLED LAX, CIRCLED (DID I BUST THE TCA HERE??) HOW MUCH TFC DID I MISS WHILE FLYING, CIRCLING, DSNDING, NAVIGATING, AND RESPONDING TO SQUAWK REQUESTS FROM LAX.
