Narrative:
During taxi-in; ECAM annunciated: 'wheel; north/west steering fault' approximately 100 feet from the arrival gate. The captain stopped the aircraft; called operations and coordinated with maintenance for a tow to the gate. Because the captain quickly assessed the situation and coordinated with operations/maintenance in a timely manner and given the malfunction occurred close to the arrival gate; the tug arrived expeditiously and we recorded an early arrival at the gate. This successful event of an aircraft that was unable to taxi safely is a direct result of a strong threat and error management system and the correct application and use of appropriate procedures by the flight crew.

Title: Thanks to a rapid response by the reporter; when the ECAM annunciated a failure of the nose wheel steering; an A319 was safely brought to a stop and made a call for a tow to the gate 100 feet away.
Narrative: During taxi-in; ECAM annunciated: 'WHEEL; N/W Steering Fault' approximately 100 feet from the arrival gate. The Captain stopped the aircraft; called operations and coordinated with maintenance for a tow to the gate.
