Narrative:
I had departed pwk heading northwest. Shortly after takeoff, pwk tower advised that the ord TCA floor was 3000' MSL at my location, and that I was exceeding 3000' MSL. I immediately began a descent, and realized that I had not set my altimeter correctly. After resetting the altimeter, I proceeded on course, below the 3000' MSL limit of the TCA. No conflicts arose from this event, to the best of my knowledge.
