Narrative:
En route lax from hawaii flight attendants called and reported strong acrid smell and light haze in the back of the cabin; several calls were made and they sounded urgent. Captain took control of aircraft and I ran the smokes/fumes checklist - turned off utility buses and recirculation fans accordingly; no smell/smoke in cockpit. Shortly thereafter flight attendants reported smell/haze dissipating. Captain called dispatch and we decided to continue to lax. No return of smell/haze rest of flight. After landing we got equipment overheat EICAS and I ran the checklist and put equipment cooling in altn. Deplaning was uneventful. Local maintenance met the aircraft to discuss as they wanted to send aircraft back out over the water!!!
