Narrative:
In reference to a A320 aircraft. I installed the video control unit (vsdu) per maintenance manual (MM) 23-36-97-401. The unit had previously been replaced twice during the visit. I performed the operational test of the passenger entertainment (video) per MM 23-36-00-710. I did not pull the oxygen 02 circuit breakers (circuit breaker)'s or 'arm' any O2 mask container since I did not believe this to be applicable to the task. In addition; I did not see any mention in maintenance computer records that documented that the O2 masks had been previously 'armed.' this aircraft visit was using the hangar paper package and maintenance computer for documenting write-ups. This caused confusion between the maintenance ramp crew and the hangar crew. This method of mixing methods has caused confusion in the past and is a ongoing problem.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A Ramp Avionics Technician reports about the events that contributed to an A320 being flown on three revenue flights with the Passenger Service Units (PSU) Oxygen mask panels partially opened in the maintenance test position; preventing full deployment and use of the oxygen masks in a cabin emergency situation.
