Narrative:
First officer and I verified route and ensured route and clearance matched. We departed and were told to intercept north of schol intersection on a 50 degree heading on the sby 200 degree radial which we both verified. The departure controller advised us we were eight miles off track and turned us to a 320 degree heading and passed us off to washington center and he cleared us direct swl. Great care was taken on loading and verifying route. The joining on the airway is only a point of intercept and not a defined waypoint. Had we been cleared direct schol then on course we probably would have been fine. All I can guess is that I hit swl instead of sby on the intercept. I unfortunately did not and shouldn't have to build my own waypoint for the SBY200 V139 intercept. [This] needs to be fixed. Simply name the intersection.

Title: An air carrier Flight Crew reported deviating from assigned course when they were cleared to intercept an airway from a heading. They would like to see a named waypoint at that intersection.
