Narrative:
Given a clearance to cross 40 mi southeast of clt at 11000'. Line of WX to the southeast-northwest. Got preoccupied with WX and planning descent. I then forgot the crossing restriction until he called us at 48 mi out to inquire if we were going down. We started immediate descent from 20000'. We made the 40 mi fix at 11000-11500' doing 300 KTS. He wanted us at 250 KTS. Doing one thing totally absorbed our concentration and forgot the big picture.

Title: ACR MLG FORGOT CROSSING RESTRICTION ON DESCENT AND UNABLE TO MAKE RESTRICTION.
Narrative: GIVEN A CLRNC TO CROSS 40 MI SE OF CLT AT 11000'. LINE OF WX TO THE SE-NW. GOT PREOCCUPIED WITH WX AND PLANNING DSCNT. I THEN FORGOT THE XING RESTRICTION UNTIL HE CALLED US AT 48 MI OUT TO INQUIRE IF WE WERE GOING DOWN. WE STARTED IMMEDIATE DSCNT FROM 20000'. WE MADE THE 40 MI FIX AT 11000-11500' DOING 300 KTS.
