Narrative:
Departed ont international airport on the pom 1 departure. Became so preoccupied with making the crossing restriction at pom VOR at 3800' or above, that we both forgot the maximum altitude of 7000' 2 mi northwest of the VOR. Didn't pay enough attention to detail and wasn't used to different altitude restrictions so close together. I think it would be better to combine the restrictions at the same point if they need to be that close together, such as 'at or above 3800, but not above 7000.'

Title: ACR MLG OVERSHOT CROSSING RESTRICTION ON CLIMB AT KARYN INTERSECTION ON THE POMONA 1 STAR.
Narrative: DEPARTED ONT INTL ARPT ON THE POM 1 DEP. BECAME SO PREOCCUPIED WITH MAKING THE XING RESTRICTION AT POM VOR AT 3800' OR ABOVE, THAT WE BOTH FORGOT THE MAX ALT OF 7000' 2 MI NW OF THE VOR. DIDN'T PAY ENOUGH ATTN TO DETAIL AND WASN'T USED TO DIFFERENT ALT RESTRICTIONS SO CLOSE TOGETHER. I THINK IT WOULD BE BETTER TO COMBINE THE RESTRICTIONS AT THE SAME POINT IF THEY NEED TO BE THAT CLOSE TOGETHER, SUCH AS 'AT OR ABOVE 3800, BUT NOT ABOVE 7000.'
