Narrative:
Previous flight had maintenance fix nose wheel steering as it would not engage delaying previous flight. Aircraft performed normally until takeoff roll. At about 70-80 knots nose wheel steering inoperative caution message alerted whereupon an abort was performed flawlessly. ATC notified on roll out. After several attempts we were able to reestablish nose wheel steering to get back to the gate. Maintenance called and they took aircraft out of service for multiple write ups. Passengers were deplaned and new aircraft used to complete flight.
Original NASA ASRS Text
Title: A CRJ100's nose wheel steering alerted its inoperative status during the takeoff roll so the Captain rejected the takeoff. The aircraft was returned to the gate where it was taken out of service because of a history of this type of failure.
