Narrative:
I was working in the cabin; it was hot so I had opened the door for a little ventilation; I chose the overwing door for it's safety. I went to close the door and thought I heard a metallic click like a screw falling inside. I cycled the 'arm/disarm' lever several times while listening to the door. Then I opened the door to see if anything had fallen out and to check for smooth operation and to see if I could duplicate the faint sound I had heard. The sound I did hear was the door [assist] bottle blowing; then the slide and I realized I had made a grievous error with the 'arming' lever. I did not try to hold the door shut and released the handle.I had had a low grade headache most of the day; figured it was due to the heat. I have since experienced other flu like symptoms. I really didn't feel that bad and know I made a mistake of which I am not proud of myself. I did shake the door afterwards and heard no noises nor did anything drop out other than the slide.
