Narrative:
On taxi out; doing the before take-off checklist; I tested the security of the start levers with a single finger push on both levers. Both of them jumped the gate and shut down. After the shutdown we found that both levers could be moved over the gate with single finger pressure without being lifted; in either direction. We taxied back to the gate and refused the airplane.

Title: A B757's start levers could be moved out of the ON position to the OFF position with a single finger's pressure. After both engines were shutdown the crew returned the aircraft to the gate and refused to fly it.
Narrative: On taxi out; doing the Before Take-off checklist; I tested the security of the start levers with a single finger push on both levers. Both of them jumped the gate and shut down.
